Design

Our feeder has a red base, a classic color that attracts hummingbirds. Its circular design is perfect for storing liquid nectar, creating a familiar and welcoming space for hummingbirds. The nectar basin can hold 14 fl oz (1.75 cups) of nectar.

The feeder is built to last, made from durable, BPA-free ABS plastic with a frosted finish. It feels great in your hands, showcasing the weight and quality that reflect the time and dedication of our design team.

The Bird Buddy Smart Camera Module

The Bird Buddy smart camera module will capture stunning photos of hummingbirds and send them directly to the Bird Buddy app. Equipped with a 5MP sensor featuring WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), it provides 720p photo and video postcards, with an option for 1080p video postcards available through our Bird Buddy Pro subscription. Our AI model was specially trained to recognize many species of hummingbirds, ensuring they will be an exciting new addition to your collection.

If this is your first Bird Buddy camera, you'll need to create an account, pair the camera, and connect it to the internet. If your camera is already online and you're just putting it into the Hummingbird feeder housing, you can simply change the feeder type in the feeder settings.

User-Friendly Features

Every aspect of our feeder is designed for ease of use. The translucent basin lets you easily monitor nectar levels without compromising on aesthetics.

The stem-to-basin connection requires just a quarter-turn for assembly or disassembly. Embossed locking symbols guide you towards correct usage.

You can find complete assembly and placement instructions for the hummingbird feeder here.

The flower ports can be removed by simply pulling them away from the basin and can be inserted at any angle. This design accommodates the varying preferences of hummingbirds, ensuring they are always comfortable while feeding.

Each feeder comes with both open and closed flower ports to cater to different hummingbird feeding behaviors. The red basins attract hummingbirds naturally, eliminating the need for harmful red-dyed nectar. The flower ports are designed to allow hummingbirds to feed comfortably while keeping bees out of the nectar basin, ensuring the safety of both bees and hummingbirds.

Dripless and Easy to Maintain

The upright flowers keep the nectar from spilling, making it easy to transport the feeder to your preferred location. The basin has a wide opening for easy refilling. Its watertight design ensures no leaks, keeping your nectar protected.

Each purchase includes a flower port cleaning brush. The nectar basin’s large opening allows for easy access with brushes and sponges, making it simple to keep your feeder clean and safe.

FAQ

How much nectar does the feeder hold?

The nectar basin can hold 14 fl oz / 1.75 cups of nectar in total.  If you make your own nectar, we recommend 1.5 Cups of water with 6 Tbsp of refined white sugar as it makes the perfect amount to fill your feeder without having extra that is wasted.

How do I clean it, and how often?

We recommend that you clean the nectar basin at least every second time you refill it to prevent the growth of bacteria or mold and ensure the hummingbirds’ safety. The feeder is easy to disassemble into component parts, and a cleaning brush for the feeding ports is included with each order.

What can I do about ants?

Depending on your placement and the area you live in, ants could be interested in accessing your nectar. Ants are small enough to get in through the flower ports and hummingbirds are not a fan of eating them either, so hummingbirds may stop coming to your feeder.  If this is the case for you, we recommend you find a reputable brand that sells an ant moat (only the ones you fill with water, no chemical-based ones) and hang it on your feeder to prevent them from continuing to contaminate the nectar.

How can I mount my Smart Hummingbird Feeder?

Currently, the only way to mount the feeder is with the metal hanger that is included in each order.

Is it squirrel-proof?

Squirrels might be curious about your new feeder, but because it contains nectar we have not seen any cases of them causing problems.

Is the feeder weather-resistant?

Yes, the feeder itself is designed with durable materials that are also weather-resistant! The central module with the camera will withstand temperatures ranging from -5°F to 120°F (-20°C to 50°C). It is also detachable so you can easily take it out and safely store it inside on extreme days.

Does it ship to my location?

Because hummingbirds are not found beyond the Americas, and with our current logistical constraints, the Smart Hummingbird Feeder is only available to pre-order in the US.
