Optimize your Bird Buddy: Choosing the right media quality

When it comes to capturing birdwatching moments, everyone has different needs and expectations (and internet connection). So, whether you're navigating an unstable internet connection or looking for crisp, high-definition clarity, we've got you covered. Here's a breakdown of the different media quality modes available on your Bird Buddy so you can find the perfect setting for your needs.

720p: Basic quality

  • Resolution: 720p video, 5MP photos
  • Best for: Unstable internet connections
  • Benefit: Reliable streaming in challenging network conditions

1080p: Balanced Full HD

  • Resolution: 1080p at 30fps, 5MP photos
  • Best for: Standard internet connections
  • Benefit: Good balance between quality and data usage

2K: Superb clarity

  • Resolution: 2K at 30fps, 5MP photos
  • Best for: Strong internet connections
  • Benefit: Enhanced detail for immersive birdwatching

2K ULTRA (PRO): Exceptional detail

  • Resolution: 2K Ultra at 30fps, 5MP photos
  • Best for: High-bandwidth connections
  • Benefit: Unparalleled video quality for the ultimate experience

960p Slow-motion: Capture every movement

  • Resolution: 960p at 120fps, 960p photos
  • Best for: Analyzing bird behavior and flight
  • Benefit: Detailed slow-motion capture of fast movements

A couple of things to know:

  • You can easily switch between modes to suit different situations or bird species
  • Higher-quality settings are ideal for smaller birds with intricate details
  • Consider slow motion for fast-moving species like hummingbirds
  • Experiment to find the perfect balance between quality and performance
  • Changes will apply only to all future postcards

Please keep in mind that even if you have a strong internet connection indoors, the camera may not fully utilize that signal if it is positioned far away in your yard. The Bird Buddy requires a 2.4GHz frequency network, which is better at penetrating walls. However, in situations where walls are thin, a slower internet connection may actually perform better. Conversely, if your walls are constructed from thick concrete or metal, the signal penetration of a very fast network may be diminished. We recommend experimenting with different modes to determine which resolution works best for your specific setup.

Whether you're a casual observer or a dedicated ornithologist, Bird Buddy's flexible video quality options ensure you never miss a moment. Happy birdwatching!
