How to Change the Owner of Your Bird Buddy Premium Subscription

We’ve made it easier than ever for you to change the owner of your Bird Buddy Premium subscription directly through the account center on our website.

Please keep in mind: These instructions only apply if you purchased your subscription through our web store. If you originally subscribed via Google Play or the Apple App Store, you will not be able to transfer ownership.

Also keep in mind that your webstore account is different from your Bird Buddy app account. When you bought your subscription on our webstore, an account was automatically created for you, and an email prompting you to set your password should have been sent. You’ll need to log into this webstore account to manage subscriptions, regardless of which email and password you use for your Bird Buddy app.

 

Why You Might Want to Change the Owner

If you’d like to give someone else access to the premium features you purchased through the Bird Buddy web store, you’ll need to update the email linked to the subscription.

When you change the ownership email:

  • The current owner’s access to Premium features will be revoked.

  • The new owner will receive access.

  • You can change the owner as many times as you like, but only one user can be linked to the Premium subscription at a time.

How to Change the Subscription Ownership Email Address

1. Log in to the Website

  1. Go to Your Account Dashboard

  2. Use your login credentials to access your account. When you bought your subscription on our webstore, an account was automatically created for you, and an email prompting you to set your password should have been sent. The subject of the email reads: "Your Bird Buddy Store account has been created" .This account is not the same as the Bird Buddy app account.

2. Access Your Subscription Details

  1. In the dashboard, navigate to the "Subscriptions" tab.

  2. Find and select the Bird Buddy Premium subscription you want to update.

3. Check Current Ownership Email

  • If a user is already linked, the email address will be displayed in the subscription details.

  • If the Premium subscription is not yet linked to any Bird Buddy app user, you’ll see the User not linked yet text with an option to add an ownership email:

4. Change the Ownership Email

  1. Click the Set Premium User or Change button.

  2. A modal window will appear where you can enter the new email address.

  3. Input the email address for the new owner (they have to create an account with this email in the Bird Buddy app first for this to work; so if this step doesn't work, make sure the new subscription owner already created the Bird Buddy App account).

  4. Confirm the change.

Note: If the recipient of the premium subscription does not yet have a Bird Buddy mobile app account and plans to create one, they should avoid using Apple’s "Hide My Email" feature. This feature generates a private relay email address (e.g., example1234abcd@privaterelay.appleid.com), which may make it more difficult to enter.


If the user already has an account created via Apple using the private relay feature, they can copy the full relay email address from the Account Settings section in the Bird Buddy app.

5. Wait for the Change to Take Effect

  1. Success! The ownership of the Premium subscription has been transferred:

Once the new email is submitted and confirmed, it can take up to a few hours for the change to be fully applied. This delay ensures that all systems are updated properly.

Note: During this time, the previous owner’s access will be revoked, and the new owner’s access will be established.
