Birdbuddy durability

Birdbuddy is one tough cookie! It is designed to withstand significant damage and various adverse weather effects.

Resistance to external damage

Birdbuddy is made from ASA plastic which is known to provide high outdoor weatherability and retains gloss, color, and mechanical properties in outdoor exposure settings. Due to the sturdiness of the material, Birdbuddy is almost certain to survive smaller impacts in case of a fall; rather than break, it will simply snap apart, which means it can easily be reassembled.

The Gorilla Glass® casing of the camera lens is scratch-resistant, antimicrobial, and non-toxic: this means that no critters will be harmed if they attempt to chew or peck at the glass.

Weather effects

Due to the durability of the material the Birdbuddy feeder is able to withstand various severe weather conditions. Its resistance to UV light and extreme temperatures will ensure that the surface of your Birdbuddy feeder remains smooth and pleasant to the touch, all the while retaining its vibrant color and functionality.

The central camera module that houses the camera and the battery is able to withstand temperatures ranging from -4°F to 120°F (-20°C to 50°C). Colder or hotter temperatures can potentially damage the battery, so it is recommended to take the feeder in on extreme days.

The camera module passed production tests and acquired a rating of IP67 (water-resistant). This means it's perfectly protected from dust or sand entering the module and that it can also withstand heavy rain. However, we still recommend that the module itself not be completely submerged in water for longer periods of time.
