Cleaning
To clean the housing, we recommend taking the feeder apart. If your housing is mounted, lift the feeder to dislodge it from the pole.
First, open the roof by pressing the side tabs. If you have a Birdbuddy Nook Solar, ensure you unplug the USB-C cable from the battery insert. Then, lift the battery insert along with the front panel out of the housing.
If you have the Birdbuddy Nook Solar, detach the solar panel by unclipping it from the roof; it should detach easily.
Do not use water to clean the solar panel, battery insert, and camera. You can use a damp microfiber cloth to clean the camera lens and the solar panel, and a dry cloth to clean the battery insert.
The rest of the housing, especially the seed compartment and perch, can be cleaned with water and soap.
When reassembling the housing, make sure the front panel (containing the camera and the battery) is inserted correctly. It needs to be placed into the designated slots inside the housing frame for the roof to close securely.
Storage
Extreme temperatures can affect the capacity of your camera module battery and reduce the device's lifetime. If the outside temperature is significantly below or above the operational range of the device (below -5°F / -20°C or above 120°F / 50°C), temporarily store your feeder inside.
To store only the camera module itself, you can simply remove it from the housing and store it inside (in a dry location protected from severe temperatures).
